At Renaissance UK, inclusion and equity are central to everything we do – and that extends to age. We’re proud to announce our commitment to improving work for people in their 50s, 60s and beyond by signing the Centre for Ageing Better’s Age-friendly Employer Pledge.

Employers across the country are facing significant skills and labour shortages as the job market evolves and vacancy rates reach record highs. Workers in their 50s and 60s are key to filling these gaps, yet too often they are overlooked or face prejudice about age and ability. In fact, more than half of people stop work before reaching state pension age – often not by choice.

We believe that older workers bring invaluable expertise, stability and insight to our teams, enhancing the creativity and productivity that drive our mission forward. More people today both want and need to work later in life, and a multigenerational workforce helps everyone flourish.

By signing the Age-friendly Employer Pledge, Renaissance UK is committing to practical action that ensures age is never a barrier to opportunity. As an Age-friendly Employer, we will:

  • Identify a senior sponsor for age-inclusion in our workforce – and publicly state our commitment to the pledge.
  • Ensure that age is specifically named within our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) policies.
  • Take action to improve the recruitment, retention and development of workers aged over 50 from one of the following areas:
    • Create an age-friendly culture.
    • Hire age-positively.
    • Be flexible about flexible working.
    • Encourage career development at all ages.
    • Ensure everyone has the health support they need.

We will take meaningful action in at least one of these areas every year and report back annually on our progress and achievements.

By embracing this pledge, Renaissance UK aims to nurture a workplace where experience is valued, every generation feels supported, and everyone can contribute fully – no matter their age.
