Renaissance UK are
delighted to announce we have been successful in securing the ‘Lancashire HIV Support and
Prevention Service’ commissioned by Lancashire County Council,
with a start date of 1st October 2019 for a period of 3 years to 30th September
2022.
The Healthier Living
service provided by Renaissance
UK will give support to people diagnosed or waiting for a
diagnosis of HIV in terms of their health, social, economic, emotional
well-being.
We will deliver outreach work in public sex environments promoting safer sex
and HIV / BBV testing, this will be targeted at but not exclusive to working
with men who have sex with men (including men who identify as gay or
bisexual).
We will deliver HIV testing and awareness in community settings and will
proactively target resources to individuals from groups with higher rates of
HIV infection and will work with partner agencies to promote other Blood Borne
Virus (BBV) testing.
We will offer a proactive and flexible service and will respond
effectively to changes in the evidence base and local and national
developments.
The service manager, Shelley Mullarkey responded to the good news;
“ We are very happy to
be awarded this contract and to continue the role of the lead provider for the
‘Lancashire HIV Support and Prevention Service’.
The charity is a leader in
the delivery of HIV and Sexual Health outreach services and has worked hard
over the last ten years to build a quality service for individuals at risk of
or living with HIV, we involved our current and past service users in this
application and they will be over the moon that the ‘Healthier Living’ service
will continue to support them to live well with HIV.
The service will continue
to work collaboratively with health care services and primary care teams to
ensure individuals can access the services they need without fear of stigma or
discrimination and we will work hard to further grow the HIV peer network
across Lancashire.
We are also committed to
the governments plan ‘For England to reach zero new HIV transmissions by 2030’
and will strive to achieve this by offering a high performing service that
increases HIV testing in the area and supporting people to access PrEP”.
